It’s Festa Time in Mellieħa! 🎉

We are delighted to inform you that one of Mellieħa’s most cherished traditions, the Feast of Marija Bambina, is taking place from 5th to 8th September.

During these days, the village comes alive with lively street celebrations, traditional band marches, music and spectacular fireworks, creating a vibrant atmosphere throughout Mellieħa.

We warmly invite you to join the locals and experience this unique Maltese cultural tradition — a wonderful celebration of music, colour, heritage and community spirit.

Please note that during certain times, access to the square and some streets may be limited due to the celebrations.



Here below is a detailed 'Festa' programme:

🎆 Sunday, 6th September
08:00, 12:00 & 19:30 – Traditional multi-break cracker shells
21:30 - An exhibition of traditional multi-break and spherical shells followed by a display
23:00 - Rooftop fireworks display from Mellieħa Square
23:55 - Spectacular pyro-musical show synchronised to music from Mellieħa Parish Square

🎆 Monday, 7th September
08:00 & 12:00 - Traditional multi-break cracker shells
18:00 - “Transulazzjoni Solenni”
Salute and traditional battery, followed by a display of daylight traditional cracker shells
22:00 - Symphony of Colours
A spectacular fireworks show synchronised to music consisting of three parts, featuring traditional multi-break cracker shells and colour cylindrical shells fired between the different parts of the show.
23:55 - Exhibition of mechanised ground fireworks from Mellieħa Parish Square

🎆 Tuesday, 8th September - Festa Day
Sanctus - Traditional multi-break cracker shells
14:15 - Spectacular daylight show with confetti and smoke effects from Mellieħa Parish Square
19:00 - Exit of the statue of Marija Bambina from the Archipretal Church
Salute, spectacular fireworks battery and a special daylight fireworks display,
followed by various traditional multi-break cracker shells
22:10 - Entrance of the statue of Marija Bambina
Exhibition of traditional Maltese cracker and colour shells, followed by a Grand Finale
